Barn Door Privacy Latch
A word on barn door privacy: barn doors don't lock the way hinged doors do — the track and hardware are always visible, and the gap at the edge of the door means they're not a security solution. What they do provide is a clear signal that the room is occupied and a way to keep the door from sliding open on its own. That's what this latch does.
The Goldberg Brothers privacy latch is a paddle-style mortise latch. The paddle sits flush in a routed recess on the door or wall; push the bottom and it rotates out to catch a strike plate on the opposite surface, holding the door closed. Available in all 17 Goldberg Brothers powder coat finishes — exact match to your hardware kit. The mortise router template (sold separately) is the right tool for the installation; see our router template. Made to order in Colorado. Ships in 10–15 business days.
